Personally, I found Tokyo Japan Buffet to be a hidden gem in the Houston dining scene. The coconut shrimp was a standout for me, and I appreciated the accommodating service for large parties. The assortment of sushi, both raw and cooked, was impressive, and the overall quality of the food exceeded my expectations. Despite the distance, I believe this restaurant is worth the drive for a decadent and satisfying dining experience.
“ $16 for a sushi dinner buffet?!?! It's a bargain for sure. I wouldn't have chosen to come here on my own, but a friend of mine came and enjoyed herself. So then I had to see for myself and I, too, enjoyed my time here. No, not the best food, but they have a nice variety and most of what I tried were good. My favorite was the coconut shrimp. Some of the rolls, like the shaggy dog, were pretty good. The sashimi were decent. You have the option of getting ice cream at the end of the meal from the server. I got the lychee and it was a great way to end my dinner. There were little chunks of lychee in the ice cream that were delicious. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . “ I just love this place. Theres always a great fresh variety and now they have some dim sum things on the line! ”
“ Decent Sushi, Awesome Prices during their Happy Hour times! There is a lot of rice in the rolls and they use a lot of tempura in their rolls, but it is still a great bang for the buck! ”
“ Had my cousin's first birthday here and they were very accommodating for our big party. We had this little sectioned off area for us. For the food, it's definitely on the better end of buffets. To my knowledge there aren't many Japanese buffets in Houston that really stand out but this place was good. They have a good assortment of sushi- both raw and cooked. I don't tend to really eat sashimi but the rolls with crab and shrimp tempura were good. Takoyaki is really good when it comes out hot and fresh. Some of the meats were kinda chewy so I just stuck to the sushi. All the sides were pretty good. They also have a little udon/ramen station where you can choose your noodles and broth. There's a variety of toppings and sides to add in too. Beside the ramen you HAVE to get the soft eggs in the little bowl. I had to fight to get some because they kept running out. They have some yummy desserts including mango pudding, creme brûlée, fruits, flan, and more. I don't know why they don't put the creme brûlée in individual containers but it's good nonetheless. Worth the 30 minute drive! ”
“ I am consistently fond of this mainstay. This is a decadent place to enjoy. I've been here when this place starts it's lunch service and, recently, towards the end of it's lunch for customers. My family and I are always happy to go here, even though the trek can be as much as 50 minute drive. We take Houston visitors here too. The quality selection is large, and consistent, in soups, hot foods, cold foods, sushi, and dessert. The staff is consistently attentive and skilled as well. We have never been disappointed as a large group, and the few times we have shown up with only 2-3 of us. I highly recommend coming at start, bc the food is freshest and nothing is in the midst of being replenished. I've only been here an hour before lunch is to end --once. Our table person remained pleasant, w no sign of being harried as closing time approached. My companion asked for some things to be replenished, and they were generously and immediately so. And kindly, the table person let us know to plate what we want, bc closing of the buffet was soon. This place is worth any trek. ”
